No one can predict how people will respond to an ad, but to our clients, Kelly Czech seems clairvoyant. How does he do it? Sixteen years of experience and a devotion to looking at a client’s business from the top down. “Direct response is one part art and two parts science,” he says. “You put the right practices in place from the beginning, then you measure and react—quickly.” Direct response is increasingly borderless and integrated. “It used to be easier to define and measure a direct response ad.
